Kelly Roach — known throughout the tri-state region as "the Wood Wizard" — is a master builder with more than 20 years of hands-on trades experience spanning residential construction, structural restoration, and finish craftsmanship. Based in Savanna, Illinois, Kelly founded Wood Wizard Signature Homes LLC to bring an uncompromising standard of quality to the Carroll County region and the broader Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin market.

 

Kelly sharpened his craft in the Black Hills of South Dakota, where demanding terrain, extreme conditions, and high-end custom builds shaped him into the builder he is today. That mountain-country experience — building in places where shortcuts get exposed fast — is the foundation every Wood Wizard project is built on.

 

What We Build

Wood Wizard Signature Homes specializes in custom home construction, structural historic restoration, and full exterior systems — work that requires deep structural knowledge, not just a cosmetic touch. Kelly is widely regarded as the only contractor in the region performing true structural historic restoration, preserving the integrity of century-old homes while meeting modern building standards.

 

The full Wood Wizard lineup includes: custom new home builds (including the Signature Homes model series), kitchen and bath remodels, custom cabinetry and millwork, decks and outdoor structures, flooring, and full-scope general contracting. Every project is permitted and managed personally by Kelly — no shortcuts, no subcontracting out the responsibility.

Wood Wizard's flagship offering is the Signature Homes model series — a lineup of craftsman and cabin-style homes designed for the Midwest landscape and built to last generations. Models include The Atlas Lodge, The Hickory, The Birch, The Pine, The Oak, The Maple, The Redwood, The Aspen, TheWillow, and a signature connector cabin design. Each model reflects Kelly's belief that a home should be built with the same pride and precision as fine furniture.
